Auction poem
(Mostly) Silent Auction. “My mother, Irene Louise Huntley, wrote the poem New England Flower Names in 1927 when she was 16. It won first prize in the high school newspaper, Mercury. Irene attended school in Worcester Mass. I found the school paper in the bookcase of my grandmother’s cottage in Saco Maine.”

On a warm summer weekend,
Huntleys are travelin’
All across the country,
As far as you can see.
They will meet at their reunion,
Huntley reunion,
Where they all will join together
To see their family.
There’ll be songs and fun and laughter,
Meetings and banquets,
Talent shows and auctions,
And places to explore.
Friendly hugs and smiling faces
Will bring them closer,
And they’ll know that they are Huntleys
As they feel their spirits soar
We have to come to reunions,
Sisters and brothers,
Children and grandkids too
To keep our family strong.
For our children are our future.
They’ll keep our clan together.
And the Huntley name will still ring out
Long after we’ve moved on.
Every Huntley knows
That our past is worth preserving
And our past and future blend as one
As the years go rolling by.
And our strength is in our future,
As we grow and learn and prosper.
And the more we come together,
The closer is our tie.
We have to come to reunions,
Sisters and brothers,
Children and grandkids too
To keep our family strong.
For our children are our future.
They’ll keep our clan together.
And the Huntley name will still ring out
Long after we’ve moved on.
Long after we’ve moved on.
Long after we’ve moved on.

Saturday and Sunday—Memories in the Making

Another photo of people gathered around a table
More people... at a table!
And, yes, even more people... at a table!
More people... not a table this time! They’re at a service.
